Samuel Chukwueze Scores as AC Milan Defeats Real Madrid 1-0 in Preseason Friendly

AC Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night at Soldier Field in an international friendly, with Samuel Chukwueze netting the decisive goal in the 55th minute. Chukwueze capitalized on being unmarked as he raced down the right side, skillfully left-footing a pass from Mattia Liberali past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibault Courtois from eight yards out.

While the result of the match was not the primary focus, new Milan coach Paulo Fonseca expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance. “The result isn’t that important, but winning in general is important,” Fonseca said. “I’m really positive about tonight. It was our clear intention to dominate the game with the ball.”

Real Madrid struggled to create scoring opportunities, managing only eight shots throughout the match, with six coming in the second half. Their best chance, a shot by Brazilian forward Endryck Moreira in the 12th minute, was ultimately ruled offside. Milan’s goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani made the save before the offside flag was raised.

AC Milan, meanwhile, registered 10 shots, including one from U.S. national team captain Christian Pulisic, who came on as a substitute in the 65th minute. Courtois made a key stop on Pulisic’s 10-yard attempt from the right side.

Real Madrid, playing without several star players including Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham, used the match to integrate newcomer Endryck Moreira into the lineup, as coach Carlos Ancelotti focused on giving the young talent valuable minutes during the preseason exhibition series.
